Kids Summer Breaks with a Mom with MS

School is officially out for the summer. Usually we set up hang outs with their friends, go to the pool and had planned to go to the local amusement park.

Their summer will not look like that anymore. With the uncertainty of how this virus will react when everything opens back up we know the amusement park is a no go. The pool we go to may or may not open, outdoor city pools are closed for the foreseeable future.

I cannot go outside if it is more than 75 degrees unless we are at a pool because my MS causes full body nerve pain at that temperature and anything higher. I hope that at some point they can hang out with their friends. Otherwise it will be a fine balance of summer education so they don’t fall behind, a large inflatable pool we purchased and some art activities I had originally purchased for my 8 year old’s birthday party which never happened.

I also have to be mindful of covering my skin so I do not get anymore skin cancer. This summer will most likely have more video games than I’d like and a lot of napping for me in the coolest room in the house.

If anyone has suggestions for things I can do with my kids that won’t aggravate my MS I would LOVE to hear them!
